Omanakuttan is an introvert working in a pharmaceutical company owned by Chandrashekhar. His failed attempt to propose a girl makes him a laughing stock of the company albeit his excellent marketing skills.

His love failed miserably due to his introvert nature and unattractive character. S o he started to phone girls in different names. He created different personas for different girls. One day he got in an accident and loses his memory. The way he tries to find out about himself forms the rest of the story.

OPINION

Adventures of Omanakuttan is a romantic comedy film Directed by Rohith VS. The film tries to experiment with the narration and it worked to some extend. But the experiment is limited to narration only and that is a disappointment.

The movie experiments the way it narrates the story. There's a scene where Omanakuttan tries to remember himself - Omanakuttan is walking through a street while his other personas walk past him and the real Omanakuttan is standing at the end of the road. The scene clearly conveys Omanakutan's confusion to the viewers. Then there's this scene where Pallavi ( Bhavana ) goes to a house to meet her lover and realizes that he is actually gay. Where usual filmmakers make fun of the gay character to make comedy here the comedy is situational. The gay characters in this film are men who don't have the  "gay character traits" which usually assign to them by the filmmakers. These attempts of Rohith was a refreshing experience but the film gets boring sometimes due to lagged screenplay.

The first half of the movie took a little too much time to establish characters. But it gets on track in the second half of the movie. The movie has enough twists and turns that put any thriller to shame. The simple story of a man, who lost his memory, trying to find out about himself is stretched to 2 hours and 46 minutes with subplots after subplots. The already confusing movie gets even confusing with its final twist. The movie lacks focus and clarity towards the climax. There are a number of scenes and subplots which can be kept out of the movie to shorten its length to pleasing levels

Asif Ali was brilliant as an introvert and his other personas which include a don, Police, cook etc.. He brings the characters to life with his expressions and body language. This is one of his finest performance as an actor. Bhavana looks stunning and scores really well in comedy scenes. Asif and Bhavana's chemistry was good and fun to watch. Aju Varghese and Saiju Kurup provided the comic element in the film. The BGM and music were good.

Final Verdict - Good

Adventures of Omanakuttan is a fun watch and a decent experiment film.Lagging in the first half is the main drawback of the film.

RATING: 3/5
